Continuous process
Part 1: Compounding and extrusion
- Mixing of foam base material (polymer) and possible additives
- Melting and homogenize the polymer
- Add blowing agent
- Transport the melted polymer under pressure to the die
Part 2: Expanding and trimming
- Leaving the die, the melted polymer expands under controlled pressure
- Cooling down the expanded polymer foam
- Cutting into sheet length
- Trimming the edges
- The foamed panel are now ready for converting
