Hard shell, light core

The products of 3A Composites Core Materials are divided into two product families: AIREX^® stands for all polymer foam core materials and BALTEK^® is the trade name of our renewable balsa wood. Together they form the most comprehensive product range available on the market.
All core materials have the following common properties:

• extremely low specific weight
• high mechanical strength and stiffness
• low raw material consumption

Depending on the application, AIREX^® and BALTEK^® core materials offer additional, individual characteristics or combination of characteristics, which pre-determines their use in the most diverse applications.

Thanks to the close working relationships with our customers, our research and development team reacts to trends early on and even helps to shape trends. One example is the wind energy industry, which could not be employed with today’s efficiency without the ultra-light sandwich construction of the rotor blades.

Our core materials can be delivered in various finishing options for easy handling. We have also established distributors which take over the initial material handling steps and prepare the preformed, semi-finished products. This cuts down on the material consumption, reduces the storage and transportation costs and increases the precision.
